About The

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

There are around 4.3 million Australians who have a disability. The NDIS provides over $22 billion in funding annually to an estimated 500,000 participants with permanent and significant disability.

The NDIS connects people with disabilities to services in their community, such as doctors, therapies, support, and care. People with disabilities ( participants) are linked to support services ( providers) and are provided with funding to access support.

NDIS Commission

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission) is the federal government’s regulatory body that supervises the administration and regulation of the NDIS. The NDIS Commission and JAZ approve AAA certification services- ANZ will conduct quality audits following the NDIS Standards of Practice. All functions related to Certified Quality Auditors and assessments are wrapped under the National Insurance Disability Scheme Act 2013.

Register as an NDIS Provider

As part of the NDIS Commission’s registration requirements, NDIS Providers must assess their suitability to deliver NDIS support and services to the NDIS participants. Being registered means that your business meets the quality and safeguard requirements of NDIS providers.

  • Complete the application on the application portal
  • Send your initial scope of the Audit to AAA certification services ( Approved quality auditor)
  • Undergo an audit with our qualified auditors
  • The NDIS Commission assess your application and makes a decision
  • Receive your application outcome

What are the NDIS Practice Standards?

The NDIS Audit is an assessment mandated by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to ensure that providers’ support is qualitative and fair and meets approved quality standards. AAA certification services. The Certified Quality Auditor will first check the accuracy of the audit’s scope and then start the audit process.

Our auditors will complete their assessment considering the size and scale of your organisation and the scope and complexity of services provided. The auditor will work with you to help you understand the outcomes and allow you to ask and answer any questions. The auditor will submit the result of their Audit to the NDIS Committee through an online portal.

Register as an NDIS Provider

The NDIS Practice Standards ensure that new and registered disability service providers comply with the quality and safety standards that the NDIS Commission sets. The NDIS Practice Standards consist of a core module and several supplementary modules that apply according to the type of support and services NDIS providers register and deliver:

The Core Modules include:

  • Rights and responsibilities of participants
  • Governance and Operational Management
  • The Provision of support and
  • The Support provision environment

The Supplementary modules include:

  • Specialist behaviour support, including implementing behaviour support plans
  • Early childhood supports
  • Specialised support coordination
  • Specialist disability accommodation

Each module of the NDIS Standard consists of a series of high-level participant-focused outcomes.

Methods of Assessment

NDIS Verification Audit

The NDIS verification process is for providers who offer lower-risk or lower-complexity supports and services. These providers are already subject to professional regulations as a requirement of doing business, such as through APHRA and other regulatory organisations. 

These providers must have evidence of relevant qualifications, such as incident, complaint, and risk management policies.

NDIS Certification Audit

The NDIS certification audit process is for providers offering higher-risk or more complex supports. NDIS providers are assessed against the core module and supplementary NDIS Practice Standards.

The certification audit will include document reviews, site visits and interviews with NDIS workers and participants.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the type of Audit you need, your audit readiness, and the size of your company. Before the Audit commences, there is a preparation process, such as providing the required documents. Once the documentation is complete, you will be assigned an auditor and an audit date. The Audit will usually take 1 to 2 days or 3 to 4. Once the Audit is completed, we will have a 2-to-4-week period to finalise your audit report and submit it to the NDIS Commission for approval.

The cost of an audit depends on how much work we must do to assess your company against the NDIS Practice Standards. Prices vary based on the following:


  • The registration group delivered and associated modules
  • Audit type
  • The number of staff
  • The number of participants you provide services to
  • The number of sites that you have

The initial scope of the Audit summarises the registration requirements that apply to your company. The NDIS Commission provides it after you have completed your registration application. It will outline whether you require verification or certification, an Audit, and what your company needs to demonstrate to comply with the relevant NDIS Practice Standards. The report goes through multiple review stages. It will be sent out within 2 weeks for a verification audit and within 4 weeks for a provisional or certification.

Your registration begins from the date the NDIS Commission registers you. NDIS registration runs on a 3-year timeline, meaning you will need to undergo an audit to renew your registration every 3 years. This ensures that you continue to adhere to the NDIS Practice Standards. Note: There may be audits in between depending on your company application ( e.g., Midterm audits or registration conditions after a Provisional audit).
